vaguely related to the UBI discourse: “funemployment” seems to be a(n increasingly?) popular thing (i.e. 20something programmers taking several months off between jobs to travel/relax/whatever)
so, maybe people are happy to take more free time and less money when it doesn’t trade off against career capital/status
