I’m used to thinking of opposition to smoking in media as kind of dumb, but a month ago I started listening obsessively to all of Kacey Musgraves’ oeuvre, and last week I told someone I was thinking maybe I should start doing nicotine, and it took until today when I was listening to Blowin’ Smoke to make the connection.
(I might be unusually susceptible to this, since I really like the rituals/aesthetics surrounding drug use. I also particularly enjoy songs about alcohol.)
