I feel like it’s crazy and not widely known enough that
- there were humans in the Americas well before the Bering land bridge migration you learned about as a kid
- evidence suggests they were most closely related to Australian aboriginal populations
- they were in America for thousands, maybe 10,000 years, until Beringians came in with superior weapons technology, driving numerous megafauna species to extinction, and now all we have is really faint genetic and archaeological traces of the first Americans
