So I had a dream last night in which I decided someone should write a paper on the relationship between value-added on standardized tests and students’ life outcomes. But then I was like wait, just because a teacher improves their students’ life outcomes doesn’t mean they’re doing net good. What if their students are just edging out other students for zero-sum things like getting into college?
Then I woke up and remembered that this was a paper that already exists. I still don’t feel like they addressed my issue, though.
