Many people’s investment strategies involve picking stocks to beat the market. As a believer in the efficient market hypothesis, I don’t think it’s worth my time to research individual securities and simply try to hold a diversified array of assets. And given my age, high expected future earnings, and intention to give a large percentage of my income to charity, I’m willing to accept a fairly high level of systemic risk in exchange for higher expected returns.
